Dear Sir,
We are requesting data from your office under the United States Code Title 5
Section 552. We request a list of containing the associated information for
each address, city, state, zip, +4, latitude, longitude. For you convenience
you may use ranges on the data. We request this data in machine readable
form, preferably on CD or DVD. Alternately this data may electronically
transmitted via email to public@pyerotechnics.com.
Under subsection (a)(4)(A)(iii) we request minimal fees and charges for this
request. This request will allow the public to understand more completely the
Postal Service Zip Code system, Increase the ability to use the Postal
Service correctly, Increase the understanding of the Global Positioning
System maintained by the Departments of Defense and Transportation.
With the proliferation of personal positioning devices, such as USB GPS for
laptops, available, there is a need for address data to be queried by
latitude / longitude. A query of address by latitude/longitude position data
is a common question. The detail of address may only be needed at the city
level, or exact address. The United States Postal Service maintains this
data.
A common query is for the necessary mailing zip code (and +4) by (partial)
address lookup, this cannot be done without address linked zip code data. The
United States Postal Service maintains this data.
There are many other queries which may need to be performed, the United
States Postal Service has not been capable of handling, but maintains the
data to solve these queries. We have provided a public access environment
which the individual, small business, and non-profit can learn about the
postal coding system and use freely available tools to correct their
addressing procedures and addresses.
